My First Rolling Loud LA Experience – and what to expect for yours

Rolling Loud Los Angeles is just around the corner, and me, a rock girly who knows a total of *one* name in the 2025 line up, am considering to attend it again.

I’ve heard lots of complaints about the festival over the years, but maybe, the chaos is just in the NYC and Miami ones because personally, I had an amazing experience attending Rolling Loud LA – by myself, with friends and backstage: over the three days of festival, I could get to have a taste of it all and now I’m here to help you as a first timer as well.

The Festival

Rolling Loud is one of the biggest hip-hop festivals in the world, it started in 2015 in Miami and has since expanded globally, with editions in cities like Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, Portugal, and even Thailand.

Since its debut in LA, the festival has solidified itself as a major event in the city’s thriving rap scene, capturing the essence of LA’s music culture, blending mainstream hip-hop with underground movements.

Beyond the music, Rolling Loud Los Angeles has become a cultural hotspot where hip-hop, fashion, and lifestyle collide. The festival showcases exclusive merch drops, celebrity appearances, and brand activations that cater to the streetwear and sneakerhead communities. LA’s influence on hip-hop style is on full display, as festival-goers bring their best fits, often setting trends for the coming seasons.

Tickets

The tickets for the two-day festival in 2025 varies from US$199 (GA) to US$449 (VIP).

I did not pay for my tickets in 2024 since I work in the music industry, but if I had to in order to attend this year’s edition, I would: is pretty inexpensive considering the festival is in a great location, the VIP area is considerably large and fair – you do get a better view and more comfort than in the general areas.

Location

Rolling Loud LA happens at Hollywood Park, which is basically Sofi Stadium’s parking lot, an area you’re very familiar with if you’re a concert-goer. Is surprisingly big (had to walk a lot and got lost a couple times walking from stage to stage) but in the between you can find lots of things to do, such as amusement park rides or karaoke – a mandatory stop!

I don’t know how to drive, so parking is never an issue for me, I actually prefer it that way so I’m free to drink, walk a bit farther to get a more reasonable Uber and don’t get stuck in traffic. But, if you are willing to drive, be aware that is a festival, so thousands of people are in the same location as you, I highly recommend waiting a while to head out of the place.

Crowd

Oh, my favorite part!

Like mentioned before, I’ve hear the most horrible things about Rolling Loud: chaotic, unorganized, and a disrespectful crowd: completely the opposite of my experience and mind you, I was by myself most of the time.

People were incredibly nice: one the first day, a friend of a friend who I met up with got too drunk and lost, we had his phone so there was no way to contact him. The security around the festival was very proactive, and so the people we asked for help around. We found him safe and sound, with a sweet couple who stayed with him until he was found.

The second day I was completely alone, which I like. I love the freedom of walking around and doing whatever I want, I was vlogging and no one minded my business. I needed a lighter and made a new friend. Even the guys who approached me (you know being a girl can be very stressful sometimes, had some bad experiences in other festivals for sure) were respectful of me wanting to be alone.

When in festivals, I prefer to watch shows at a distance, so I can *breathe lol* have more space, move around, so can’t provide information on how the crowd is like front row or so, but everywhere I went to, I had a really calm and safe experience.

Food

The festival is in Los Angeles, where I live, so I ate at home before and after it. I also went at night, late afternoon, so didn’t feel hungry at all. I did buy drinks while in there and they were pretty expensive. Basic festival beers/drinks, basic festival food.

Pro tip: you can also buy drinks on the way to the entrance and drink before, that way you not only save some money but also help the local business. 🙂

Outfits

People were not only nice but also very well dressed, ugh! So many outfit inspirations walking around you the whole time, y2k, 90’s and sporty everywhere, from the most “glamorous” outfits, to the simplest ones, everyone was very well dressed. (Makes sense if you consider the fashion reflects the music and vice versa. Hip Hop is known for it’s streetwear style, is expected that those who listens to it would be stylish as well). More about what to wear here.

Vlog

I also have a YouTube channel where I vlogged my experience, if you wanna see more and have a feeling of Rolling Loud LA, make sure to check it out!

Have a wonderful time at Rolling Loud and maybe see you there. ★
